Azerbaijan International

Azerbaijan International is an independent English-language magazine published since 1993, shortly after the Azerbaijan Republic gained its independence. The magazine is committed to promoting discussion of issues related to Azerbaijanis around the world on a wide range of subjects including culture, art, music, business, international relations, language, literature, traditions and trends. Distribution is worldwide by subscription.
In July 2009, the magazine and its founders Betty Blair (editor) and Pirouz Khanlou (publisher) were recipients of the "Hafiz Pashayev Award for Promotion of U.S.-Azerbaijan Relations." The award, then in its second year, was presented by U.S. Ambassador Anne Derse and Azerbaijan's first Ambassador to the U.S. Hafiz Pashayev at a reception at the U.S. ambassador's residence in Baku. The citation reads: "For bringing Azerbaijani culture to America via Azerbaijan International and working tireless to build lasting bridges between the United States and Azerbaijan through Cultural, Humanitarian and Educational exchanges."
Editor Betty Blair made the Keynote Address for the 20th Anniversary of Black January (2010), which was co-sponsored by the Azerbaijan Embassy and USACC in Washington, D.C.
