US-Azerbaijan Economic Taskforce to Meet in Washington

The 9th meeting of the US - Azerbaijan Economic Taskforce will be held in Washington DC on October 5.

The meeting will be focused on a range of issues, including macroeconomic situation in Azerbaijan , combating money laundering and corruption, relations with the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, raising tariffs for domestic energy carriers and natural gas, and adoption of a new law "On National Bank".

The United States will allocate $70 million assistance to Azerbaijan in 2005 - including $20 million humanitarian aid, $9 million for democratic development, $11 million for support of law-enforcement agencies, $13.5 million for promoting economic development, and $4.8 million for student exchange programs. The 8th meeting of the taskforce was held in Baku in May this year.
