Volkswagen Cars to be Produced at Ganja Plant
AssA-Irada -- Talks between the Azeri government and German Volkswagen to set up manufacturing and assembly lines for Volkswagen brand cars at the Ganja plant are close to completion, Minister of Economic Development Farhad Aliyev told reporters.
Minister Aliyev said an agreement is to be reached on the assembly of small Volkswagen trucks using the capacity of this plant, which will require investments of $10-15 million, including funds needed to supply spare parts.
Concerning the negotiations previously held with French Renault, the Minister said the French party had proposed very high prices and demanded state guarantees for their investments, which was not acceptable for Azerbaijan.
