Russian – Azerbaijani Border Opens
Russia has lifted restrictions on its border with Azerbaijan imposed since September 16. Russian authorities closed the border with Azerbaijan and Georgia on increased security concerns after the Beslan tragedy.
"All the restrictions had been lifted. Now citizens form both sides move through checkpoints freely, without any problem,” Head of the Khudat border patrol service Aydin Najafov reported to ANS regional bureau.
Border checkpoints will operate in a normal working regime starting October 23. On average, 320 cargo trucks and 120 passenger buses pass the Russian-Azerbaijani border every day.
