Exhibition of antique Azerbaijani carpets: The Safavid Dynasty 

The United States - Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce (USACC) is pleased to invite you to a captivating exhibition of antique Azerbaijani carpets from the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries. This one-day extraordinary event will take place at the USACC Gallery, nestled in the historic neighborhood of Georgetown, Washington, D.C.

The exhibition will feature a remarkable collection of carpets from the Safavid dynasty graciously provided by Mr. Amir Oskouei, an ardent collector of Azerbaijani antique carpets. Mr. Oskouei's passion for preserving these masterpieces showcases his profound dedication to celebrating the rich history and craftsmanship of Azerbaijani carpets.

The primary objective of this exhibition is to raise awareness about the exquisite artistry and centuries-old traditions of Azerbaijani carpet craftsmanship. It is a unique opportunity to witness firsthand how these traditions have gracefully endured the test of time, preserving their distinctiveness and unparalleled beauty despite the changes in history.

A significant number of antique Azerbaijani carpets are presently housed in museums worldwide, often labeled under different names. However, this exhibition seeks to shed light on their true origins and the cultural significance they hold within Azerbaijani heritage. Mr. Amir Oskouei, an American-Azerbaijani from South Azerbaijan (present-day Iran), fled persecution by the Iranian regime to the United States to ensure his family's safety. His lifelong mission to collect and preserve Azerbaijani carpets is a testament to his father's legacy and his unwavering passion for these art forms.
